Q: Ignition Switch installation on a 1998 Chevy s10 Pick-up?
On a previous question, I am being told that I should change out the ignition switch on my 1998 S10 Pick-up truck. Does anyone have instructions with pictures and diagrams as to how to go about doing this? I'am somewhat handy mechanically, but any additional help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
A: I dont know of any place to go, mostly because its not a newer vehicle. Its not that bad. Start ripping and tearing! Just keep track and maybe even take pictures yourself in the process.
Q: where is the starter located on a 1998 chevy s10 4 cylinder and can I easily change it myself?
If I can reach it I'd like to change it at home. Any help is greatly appreciated.
A: it's located on the passenger side back of the motor, be sure to unhook the battery terminal first, it can be easily changed by yourself there are only 2 wires and 2 bolts. hope this helps , good luck :)
Q: How long will a 1998 Chevy S10 pickup last?
I just bought a '98 Chevy S10 pickup for $1700. It has 170K miles on it but is in great shape and runs well. Was it a good buy and how long will it last?? Thanks!!!
Its a 4cyl automatic 2.2L engine
A: That seems like kind of a high price for something with that many miles, but if it's been well maintained, there's nothing that says it won't still go another 50,000 miles. It may even be worth rebuilding when it eventually does go out.
Q: How do you change a serpentine belt on a 1998 Chevy S10?
My serpentine belt broke yesterday, and I heard it's not that hard to change. I changed one a long time ago on a older smaller car, does anyone know is it easy? Or should I have a professional do it?
A: Not too hard, you just go by the routing diagram if there's not one under the hood you can go to AutoZone or somewhere and they can print one out.
Q: My 1998 chevy s10 will start some times and some times it want it is in the wires how do i find it?
A: Generally, bad spark plug wires will cause the engine to run rough & get worse under heavy acceleration but would not normally be the cause of it not starting.
Q: What would make a 1998 Chevy S10 do this?
When you start it, it will idle but as soon as you push the gas it dies. It is a manual transmission. We have changed the fuel filter, the spark plugs and wires, and the oxygen sensor that is before the cattalitic converter. We are out of ideas please help!!
A: fuel pump!
Q: How do you install a 1998 chevy S10 clutch plate and preasure plate in a manuel transmission?

Once you do that remove the drive shaft from the transmission. start taking off the eight bolts that hold the transmision to the motor. the bell housing should stay on look inside and you will see the clutch four to six bolts should hold it on remove it and install the new part. back track to puting it back togethere.

Q: how do i remove the dash from a 1998 chevy s10 blazer?
can't find all of the screws to get it off so that i am able to replace the heater core
A: Get some help from someone who knows how to do this. If your intent on doing it yourself, there are manuals you can buy at auto parts stores for specific vehicle models that tell you how to do certain jobs. I'd ask because I wouldn't think you'd have to take the dash all the way out to replace a heater coil but them again, I haven't torn into a Chevy in a long time. Good luck!
Hey, something else I used to was to call the local auto dealer for my vehicle and ask for the service department and ask someone something like this, "I know you guys aren't the advice department but do you have to take the dash out of a 88 Chevy S-10 to replace the heater coil. If they start laughing or tell you no, then you know you need help. I've done this a bunch of times and always gotten some information.
Q: Is a 1998 Chevy S10 LS still worth buying?
I've been offered a 2.2L 4 cyl with 70,000 mi on it for $6,300. It's an automatic, loaded with a bed liner and tonneau cover. It also has a newly installed cd player. It's a good ride, but is a '98 still worth paying that price for?
A: I wouldn't pay that much for it. If you want to know blue book on it go to www.kbb.com. You can find book prices on most any vehicle there.
Q: repairing emergency brake on 1998 chevy s10?
The emergency brake doesn't work, but it did not long ago. How do you check to see if it's just loose or off?
A: You need to trace the emergency brake cable from the inside brake handle or pedal all the way back to your rear wheels. As long as that's all attached good and taut, and tightening up when the brake is applied, then take your rear wheels off and remove the hubs (assuming you have rear drum breaks, if not then there are no hubs, you can just see everything around the calipers). Then, with someone moving the inside control back and forth between the engaged and the disengaged position, look and make sure the emergency brake parts are moving at the rear wheels. Often, corrosion has deemed the parts imobile. More often than that though on drum breaks, the rear brakes are simply in need of adjustment. If THAT'S the case, then I recommend you get a Haynes or Chiltons manual (which BTW is a great investment for anyone without much mechanical experience to do minor repairs on their vehicle) to get better instructions than I have space for here in order to properly adjust your rear brakes. I hope this helps and good luck. Emergency brakes can sometimes be an aggrevation even to experienced mechanics.
Q: what type of a/c refrigerant does my 1998 chevy s10 use?
Lets say I did have r12 would I be able to add 134 to it or no?
A: if it has r12 it will need to be retrofitted over to r134a.the two refrigerants will not mix.let a qualified tech service the system for you.
Q: Do you know anything about a 1998 Chevy S10 Blazer?
Wiring and all that?
A: Cheap way is to get a Haynes Manual at any local auto parts store. If I recall right, Haynes has wiring diagrams in the book.
The book is about $20.00. Best investment on any used car hands down.
