Q: How do you program a remote keyless entry for a 2000 Chevy Silverado?
I bought this 2000 Chevy Silverado and it did not come with a remote entry. I gave the VIN to the dealer and they told me that the truck was able to accept the keyless entry. I purchased one and now I need to get it programed.
A: Start with the ignition OFF, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel. Turn ignition key ON, OFF, ON, OFF. Release power unlock button on the door panel. The locks will cycle once.
Hold down the keyless entry transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons for 15 seconds . The locks will again cycle once.
Repeat step #2 for each additional keyless entry transmitter.
Turn the ignition on to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode. Programming is now complete. Method 2-Scan Tool Required In the event that a transmitter is lost, program the old and the new transmitters into the memory of the remote control door lock receiver. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed. IMPORTANT: Once the keyless entry receiver enters the programming/diagnostic mode, the programming of the first transmitter erases all previous transmitter programming information. You must then program all of the transmitters. Program only 1 vehicle remote control door lock receiver at a time. If you program multiple receivers simultaneously, the same transmitter may possibly be programmed to more than 1 remote control door lock receiver. hope this helps.may take a little pratice
Q: Which exhaust is best for my 2000 chevy silverado?
I am looking for an exhaust system for my 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4X4. I want to have better airflow and better sound. Have any suggestions?
A: A Flowmaster stainless cat-back system does any V8 engine justice. They sound awesome with just the right rumble and with more than one to choose from, there is horsepower to be had as well.
Q: What could be the causes of my 2000 chevy silverado blowing white smoke?
It only does this for a little while when I first start it.
A: I own a shop, and think this; White smoke is from water or coolant. Blue smoke is from oil burning in the engine, and black smoke is from too much fuel being introduced into the engine. When cold & hot clashs, it creates moisture until the temperatures equal out, thus you will have white smoke out the exhaust pipes. If you are having to add coolant, then you have reason to be concerned, as this can be a leak in the head gasket, intake gasket, a crack in the block, or head. Its normal for most engines to produce white smoke for the first few minutes of operation as this is nothing more than steam created from the hot & cold thing I mentioned. The key here is; If you have been getting low on your coolant level, then its time to get concerned. If not; then I would say it is ok, and there is nothing to worry over.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
Q: 2000 Chevy Silverado, Rear Brake Brake Backing Plates. Is Upgrade Available?
Are their upgraded rear disc backing plates available for 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD. I live in New England and the stock ones rust out frequently. Perhaps someone makes aluminum ones. I haven't seen any advertised yet. Also asked several parts stores.
A: They are made out of flimsy tin and do rust easily and very quickly. As I know if at this time though, there isn't much that can be done. Actually, this is a problem on a lot of cars asthetically. However, I've never heard of anyone actually haveing any kind of problem that harmed the brakes.
Q: 2000 chevy silverado; can you take off the horn cover from the steering wheel without inflating the airbag?
the horn quit working and i dont want to mess with the steering wheel horn cover because of the air bag; could that be a fuse problem also, or a loose wire?
A: Just disconnect the battery. Wait for 15 minutes or so, because the airbag controller holds a charge for a while before it dies.
Q: Where is the A/C Compressor on a 2000 Chevy Silverado?
I just need to know where the AC Compressor (for instance, driverside closer to the windshield, with the big words Air Compressor written on it.) is and if it uses the newer refrigerant or if I'm going to have to take it somewhere to have Freon pumped out.
My guess is that it is the Compressor is the cyclindrical object on the passenger side, near the windshild, wrapped in some kind of insulation.
Thanks!
A: No that is the accumulator and the evaporator is mounted in the dash, the compressor is mounted at the lower portion of the engine.
Q: What is the easiest way for me to add tweeters in the front of my 2000 chevy silverado ?
I am look for a way to run two tweeters from the wiring in the back of my head unit. I have tweeters in the rear but i need more treble when i fade the sounds to the front.
A: I am assuming you already have the front speakers connected to your radio - and a radio will not handle a 2 ohm load (assuming your tweeters are 4 ohm). The only thing you can really do is:
a) wire them in series with the front speakers to generate an 8 ohm load
b) purchase a small amplifier that will power both the front and rear tweeters - this way you can adjust the volume on just the tweeters and tune it to your liking
Q: How much money would it cost and how long would it take to rebuild a 2000 chevy silverado transmission?
THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING CODE POPS UP ON THE SERVICE ENGINE CHECK, AND IT FLYS INTO THE NEXT GEAR PRETTY HARD AFTER ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES OF DRIVING.
A: Hard shifts once the tranny warms up could me the pressure control solenoid is bad (is it a max trans adapt code?) or a valve body issue. Rebuilds depend on what needs to be replaced, if its just clutches, seals, and bands, then probably 1500 give or take. It may cost more if 4wd due to more time to remove, etc. and if any hard parts are needed (usually the reverse hub on those, or any other parts like a valve body or new solenoids). Clear as mud, right? You really don't know what you are in for until its pulled apart. A lot of places take advantage of this, quote you a low price than rape you later. I would get a 2nd opinion before rebuilding, if it is a solenoid or valve it will ruin your trans if you wait too long, which is not long at all. Or you can get a good used one for about 750. Good luck...
Q: How do you fold down middle seat in a 2000 chevy silverado truck?
It is a three part bench seat - the middle seat will not fold down.
A: i don't know about the 2000 but the '05 has little straps in the crevice of the seat that you have to pull out. other than that look for small levers on the sides.
Q: How do I locate and replace the fan blower resisitor in a 2000 Chevy Silverado?
A: Get yourself a good manual, or possibly look online for a wiring diagram, trace out the wires and in some cases, a good manual will give you precise component locations
