Q: GMC Sierra?
Would you recommend a GMC Sierra 2 door for a 16 year old driver, and do you know what the estimated cost of insurance would be? What are advantages/ deisdvantages of this vehicle? I need a truck, and not a car, so don't say get a car.
A: These trucks hold up well, are cheap to fix, and cheap to insure. I am not sure about a 16 yr old driver, but I only pay like $30 a month for insurance on my 85 GMC Sierra Classic. Its hard for them to tear up these trucks, and IF (God forbid) they ever wreck it, they will hold up like a TANK. I own 5 of these trucks, years 78-85. All three of my sons will learn how to drive in one of them, but that is just my opinion.
Q: Where can i find exterior replacement parts for a 1995 GMC Sierra 1500?
I have a 95' Sierra stepside SLE with a 5.7 litre V8. The lower panels arond the outside of the truck are chrome and above it is chrome trim. I need to replace the trim and the GMC logo that was originally there but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

I need to buy a rear axle beam for a 1978 GMC sierra. The part can be new or used. I have already tried auto salvage yards and no one seems to have it.

Q: How to clean and lube slip yoke on 99 GMC Sierra 1500 truck?
I need to know how to clean and lubricate the slip yoke on my 99 GMC Sierra 1500 truck. I am a repair novice, but I am wondering if I can do this on my own. I know the lubriant I need (GM Special Lubriant #12345879), but I do not know how to clean and lubricate the slip yoke. If someone would be so kind as to walk me through the process step-by-step (perhaps with service manual?), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
A: just sand it down with any sandpaper and then use any grease or oil to lube it. Like the other guy said if not rusted no need to clean it. You dont need a special lube they just do that to make money. Just like on lawnmowers they say use expensive oil all you have to use is regular SAE 30

Q: How much will it cost to professionally install a 3" body lift on my 99 gmc sierra?
my truck is a 99 gmc sierra 1500 z71 4x4. Also, how much would it cost to intall a 6" suspension lift professionally? Would it be cheaper if I install both at the same time, the body lift first, or the suspension lift first. Is it ok if I first have the body lift installed and wait a while before installing the suspension lift??????
A: Waist of money considering gas prices these days...Its a 1999 for crying out loud. Its not going to make a difference how big it is...

Q: How can I determine my Axle Ratio on 07 GMC Sierra?
Hello, I have an 07 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. Wanting to upgrade my travel trailer to The Cougar XLite. My manual says I can tow 6700 lbs with a ratio of 3.23, or 7700 lbs with ratio of 3.73. How can I find my ratio?
A: Jack the rear end up and put a mark on the axel housing near the drive shaft and one on the drive shaft in line with the mark on the housing. Then rotate your tire one complete turn. Count how many times the mark on the driveshaft rotates. If it rotates nearly 4 times it's a 3.73 Just barely over 3 it's a 3.23.
It may be stamped on the housing as well but alot of times they put the ring gear and pinion tooth count on there if you knew which was which you could divide the pinion tooth count into the ring gear count and get it that way as well.
The first way I mentioned is the easiest although some knucklehead that doesn't get it will give me thumbs down. It's the easiest way and works well if you understand what I'm saying. Your basically doing one full tire rotation and counting the pinion rotations.
Q: How do you program a keyless transmitter for a 2004 GMC Sierra?
Need instructions on how to program a new keyless remote transmitter for a 2004 GMC Sierra.
A: get in the truck. doors closed. have all your transmitters handy. put the key in the ignition. ok., now you have to do this just like i am explaining or it will not work. 1. hold down unlock button. on door, not transmitter 2. while holding down turn key on, off, on, off. [ do not turn key all the way to start] 3. leave key in off position and let go of the unlock button. doors should lock and unlock and horn should beep. it is now in the program mode. 4. hold down the lock and unlock on the transmitters for aprox. 30-60 sec.. the door locks will cycle when that transmitter is programmed. take the next transmitter and do the same with it. after they are both programmed turn the key on and doors will cycle again and horn will beep. this takes it out of program mode. you're set to go .
Q: Did gmc ever make a 3/4 ton sierra with wheels that have 6 lugs instead of 8?
I have a 1990 gmc sierra that runs great. It is clearly marked as 3/4 ton, but I was recently told that there is no way it is a 3/4 ton because the wheels only have 6 lugs.
A: yes this is normal. usually 8 lug means 1 ton. although those years the 1/2 ton 4X4's had 6 lug as well
Q: Does anyone know how to replace the brakes on a GMC Sierra?
I drive a 1997 GMC Sierra 4x4, and the brakes are squeaking. How do I replace them? Is it easy to do, or should I have a shop do them? Thanks
A: Like anything, it is easy to do if you know what you are doing!
I would have a shop do them as the consequences for brake failure are very high!
Q: What size gas tank on a 2004 GMC Sierra?
I think we just got ripped off on gas. Truck is a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 2 door Regular cab. Can anyone tell me what the gas tank size is? I tried to find it on the net but no luck. We think it's a 26 gallon tank so I'm not sure how we managed to put in (per the pump) 27.370 gallons and it was not on E.
A: 34 gallons i think. The owners manual should have this information.

I have a 89 GMC Sierra with a small block 400 engine the engine is free from a cousin who's a mechanic. I plan to buy a edelbrock 650 carb, edelbrock intake, dynomax blackjack headers and 2 flowmaster super 44 mufflers. Is this a pretty good set up for a daily driving truck. I dont want too much speed i just want descent power and sound.
A: other than gas mileage it'll be a good daily driver. the super 44 may be a little loud but thats a personal preference.
