Q: Problems with the dome light on 2003 Toyota Tacoma?
My dome light only works some of the time. I drive a 2003 Extended Cab Tacoma with 4x4 TRD and SR5.
I looked at the holder and that could be a problem, but I couldn't get it to work no matter how I worked with it.
Does anybody have experience with this problem?
It works some of the time, no matter what setting it is on. Also, I have flipped it over to the "ON" position and tried all the stuff and still no luck.

Q: noisy brakes on a 2003 Toyota Tacoma. the pads and shoes are fine, what can I do?
I've had recently changed the pads less than two years ago, and now the brakes are making noise when I step on the brakes. I checked them and both the pads and the shoes are ok.
A: The root cause of brake squeal is high frequency vibration. When the brakes are applied and the pads contact the rotors, tiny surface irregularities in the rotors act like speed bumps causing the pads to jump and skip as they scrape against the rotors. This, in turn, causes the pads to shake and vibrate in the calipers and against the caliper pistons. It also causes the calipers to shake and vibrate on their mounts and bushings. The greater the play between all of these parts, the greater the amplitude of the vibrations and the louder the squeal.
Play between the calipers and the mounts, missing or badly corroded shims, and/or missing, bent or broken anti-rattle clips and springs can all contribute to a noise problem. Shims are used in disc brakes as a dampening device between the pads and caliper and caliper pistons. Shims may be steel with, or without, a soft facing material; or they may be nothing more than soft material applied to the backs of the pads. Either way, their job is to dampen vibrations at the source.
Other mechanical devices that are often installed on original equipment brake systems include anti-rattle springs and clips. These may be attached to the caliper to help hold the pads in place, or attached between the pads. If the factory-installed anti-rattle devices are missing, broken or bent, they obviously cannot do their job. Unfortunately, many technicians overlook these parts or leave them off when replacing pads because (1) they think the parts are not really necessary, or (2) it is too much hassle to replace them if they are missing, broken or bent. Consequently, these technicians probably have a lot of comebacks because of noise.
Q: Some one stole my catalytic converter off my 2003 toyota tacoma, it is bolted in, what all do i need to buy?
and can i replace it myself? I noticed the gaskets and the bolts on the ground, also i need to know if they took the whole unit does that mean my o2 sensor is gone as well?

Q: 2003 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner SR5 Power Steering Pump?
My personal mechanic and a Toyota mechanic have both told me that there is a leak coming from the Power Steering Pump. For right now, it's not a big issue but over time it will become a big deal. Toyota told me that the pump itself is $349.00! Does that price sound about right or should I shop around elsewhere? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Q: I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma with a 4 cylinder that the check engine light came on. How do I reset it?
A: The "Check Engine" light has only one purpose: To inform the operator that the computer has detected a fault in the power train management system that has the potential to cause emissions to rise to a level more than one and a half times the maximum allowable limit for the vehicle.
This could be a loose fuel cap, or an oxygen sensor, or one of several other sensors or systems.
You should drive the car to a reputable repair shop for diagnosis and an estimate of repairs. After the repairs have been completed, the light will be turned off by the technician.

Q: Is a 2003 Toyota Tacoma a/c covered under powertrain warranty, 49K. ?
Unit is blowing hot air, or takes time to slighty cool off. Does it need recharge or more,,, THanksss!!!!!!!!!
A: Here in Canada, your A/C system is under warranty for 3 years/60,000 kilometres. But whether you are in Canada or the U.S. the diagnose procedure is the same.
Your dealer will charge you to evacuate the system and recharge it with refrigerant containing a coloured dye and run your A/C system and check it all with a flourescent light that will illuminate the dye when it leaks out from wherever. Then they will tell you what is wrong with it and give you an estimate to repair.
Remember warranty only applies to a part which has worn prematurely or has manufacturing defect. the most common source of A/C troubles is the front-mounted A/C condenser, which is like a radiator. Usually gets punctured by pebbles or debris from the highway.
